Hello, fellow Carrie fans! So I finally built up the courage to blog for the first time ever and I was thinking... what will I talk about first? What better way to start than by looking back at how I became such a diehard Carrie fan? So here we go...
In case you haven't seen my hastily done profile, I'm a 27-year old lawyer in the Philippines. I knew of American Idol, but the first season ever shown here was Season 3 because 2 finalists (Jasmine Trias and Camile Velasco) were Filipinos. I watched, but didn't really have a favorite. Season 4 came along and I saw this blonde girl sing "I Can't Make You Love Me," one of my all-time favorite songs, and I thought "WOW!" She really stood out for me, but even then, I didn't really pay attention to her name. I can't pinpoint the exact moment where I transitioned from "this girl is really good" to "OMG! I'm a fangirl!" I just remember that I was floored by "Alone" and before I knew it, I was religiously awaiting each and every episode amidst the stress and pressure of law school, feeling nervous for Carrie, feeling frustrated that I couldn't vote, feeling relief every week she was safe, and eventually being overjoyed when she won. Basically, I was caught in the rollercoaster of emotions and fully invested in Carrie. I joined and spent countless hours at CarrieFans, browsed messageboards, learned the workings of charts, built my Carrie media collection, requested Carrie as much as I could in online radio playlists, bought my share of albums, Googled Carrie daily (I used to be the one to start most of the threads at the CF Times section, but now I'm getting beat. People are so darn fast nowadays, haha!). Name it, I've done it (and am still doing it almost 2 years later).. well, I still haven't been able to attend a Carrie concert. Sad, but it's one of the biggest pitfalls of being an overseas fan. As luck would have it, I was in California for 3 weeks last April, but unfortunately, those 3 weeks had to be in between 2 CA Carrie concerts. On my to-do list before I die, seeing a Carrie concert.
Anyways, enough with all that and I'll get on with the more important aspects of why I'm such a diehard Carrie fan. More than all the awards and all the numbers associated with sales and radio play, I am a fan of Carrie because of who she is as a person. Yes, I am blown away by her beautiful voice and gorgeous looks, but more than that, I love her humility, work ethic, graciousness, intelligence, love for her family and her fans. I continue to be impressed with the way she handles herself amidst all the success, pressure, and criticism. I am impressed by how well-spoken and sincere she is in interviews. I am impressed that, at such a young age, she seems to know herself well and is at peace with who she is. I am impressed by her, period. I could go on and on about it :) I have never in my life followed any artist this closely. Carrie, you have my support for the long haul.
Personally, Carrie has done more for me than she'll ever know. The past 1 and 1/2 years have been really trying for me and Carrie has helped a LOT in getting me through it.
To end this novel, I would like to thank a few people, all of whom I have never met, most of whom I have no idea what they look like, but they have all affected my life in a great way.

Speaking for myself, I can't even count the number of times I've found myself smiling, giddy, and happy with all the Carrie media you provide. You are magnificent! My thanks and love also go out to Richard, Geno, and all the other CFer's who so generously share their Carrie concert footage and other media.
